- Your tax status, ie whether you are a non, lower, basic or higher rate tax payer

Asset Allocation
A large factor when investing is something called asset allocation. This is the
name given to the balance of investments in a portfolio. The reason that this is
so important is because this has been shown to be the most important factor in determining
the performance of an investment portfolio.
There are four main types of asset class which are as follows:
- Cash Bank and Building Society deposit accounts
- Fixed Interest Securities Gilts and Corporate Bonds
- Property Commercial and investment property
- Equities Shares
When investing for the long term (5 years or more), the success of a portfolio depends
