About Us

With around 200 staff, 29 partners and 10 offices across Lincolnshire and in Newark, we are one of the leading firms of solicitors in the East Midlands.

In addition to our extensive range of legal and financial services for individuals, we have an enviable reputation for commercial work with particular strength in commercial property, corporate law, dispute resolution and agriculture.

Established over 200 years ago, we have forged strong ties with the local communities and businesses we serve. Many of our staff are school governors, trustees of local charities, and members of organisations promoting local business and development.

Each year Chattertons raise funds for a local charity nominated by our staff. In the past, we have supported the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and LIVES First Responders.

This year we are raising funds for the St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, a charity that provides end of life care for people across Lincolnshire with life-limiting illnesses both in the hospice and their homes.

  • Restraint of Trade: How do I stop my staff from stealing my customers and ideas? - seminar

    Where: Lincoln office
    When: 05/Feb/2015 - 8:30 to 10:30

A record breaking 581,173 new companies were formed in 2014 and, given that this figure doesn’t include sole traders or partnerships, the actual number of new businesses starting last year was much higher. This is good news for the economy, unless of course one or more of those new businesses happen to be started by your staff, using your ideas, your trade secrets and supplying your customers.

The law allows companies to take steps to protect themselves against this type of behaviour but knowing the rules is critical.

In this free seminar, employment law specialist James Hazel explores the ways that companies can legally protect their business interests and explains what businesses can and can’t prevent their staff from doing.
