Kelhams Merger
PRESS RELEASE
Chattertons, The Lincolnshire Solicitors, have further enhanced their reputation as the fastest growing legal firm in Lincolnshire by the announcement of the latest stage in their expansion programme. With effect from 1 April 2007, Kelhams, which was founded in 1907 and is the largest legal firm in Stamford, will join Chattertons to bring the number of offices of that firm to 10 in 8 towns. The announcement comes less than 6 months after the firm’s mergers with Spalding firm, Crusts, and the Lincoln firm, Miller Mockford Winckworth. The new office of the firm, which will be called “Chattertons (incorporating Kelhams)”, will continue to operate from the premises currently occupied by Kelhams at 9 Broad Street, Stamford.
The existing staff of Kelhams will be joined by a number of Chattertons’ staff headed by Partner Richard Ludlow. Richard, who was previously based at the firm’s Grantham office, is, unusually for a solicitor, an Independent Financial Adviser which he says links in very well with his work as a conveyancing solicitor. This means that clients will be able to tap into his investment expertise as well as benefiting from his many years of conveyancing experience. Robert Vipan and David Small, the existing partners with Kelhams, will join Chattertons as consultants.
Senior Partner, Peter Cropley, says:-
“We intend to considerably expand the range of services available to our clients in Stamford by transferring to that office lawyers in a number of specialist fields such as trust, tax and agriculture, which will complement Richard Ludlow’s financial service advice.”
