Chattertons supports action against claims companies

  • Posted

Chattertons supports the current CAN THE SPAM Campaign run by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

At some time, we will all have received a phone call or text trying to persuade us to claim compensation for an injury, often when we are not injured, or maybe when we haven’t had an accident at all. This can be annoying, and sometimes very confusing to a client who has perhaps already sought legal advice.

Solicitors are already banned from making cold calls and nuisance texts, but claims management companies are not and we believe that they should be.

APIL has been fighting for the rights of injured people for over 25 years. It is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to changing the law, protecting and enhancing access to justice and improving services for victims of personal injury.

If you have had an unwanted call or text about a personal injury claim, whether you have had an accident or not, APIL will report the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office, who will investigate it further.

To complain about unwanted claims texts and calls please email canthespam@apil.org.uk
