Chattertons Newark team grows in strength with the addition of four new lawyers

Chattertons talented legal team is going from strength to strength, with four new lawyers joining our Newark office.

The new members of our Newark legal team are:

Luanne Morton – Family law solicitor who is moving from our Lincoln office.

Adam Gilbert – Partner and Head of Corporate who joined Chattertons in October 2020.

Paul Bloomfield – Commercial Property Consultant who joined Chattertons in August 2020.

Julie Pope – Commercial Property Partner who joined Chattertons in November 2020.

They will be based at our office in the Trentside Business Village, just off the A46, serving clients in Newark, across Nottinghamshire and further afield.

Luanne Morton

Luanne Morton

Luanne qualified as a solicitor and joined Chattertons as a family lawyer in 2019, initially based in our Lincoln office.

Luanne specialises in areas of family law including:

  • Divorce
  • Divorce finances
  • Child arrangements
  • Nuptial Agreements
  • Separation Agreements
  • Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders

She is a member of family law network Resolution and an Alzheimer's Society Dementia Friend.

Adam Gilbert

Adam Gilbert

Adam Gilbert joined Chattertons in October 2020 as a partner and our new Head of Corporate. Prior to joining Chattertons, Adam was Partner and Head of a Corporate and Commercial for a firm based in Staffordshire and in 2019, he and his team completed more than 58 corporate and banking transactions totally more than £130m.

After training and working at two national law firms, Adam has worked in house for two multi-million pound organisations as their in-house legal counsel, one of those being a household name high street retailer. 

Adam qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and is highly experienced in all areas of Corporate and Commercial work, including:

  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Disposals
  • Management buy-outs/buy- ins
  • Corporate finance
  • Corporate governance
  • Joint ventures
  • Shareholder agreements
  • Franchising
  • Business reorganisations
  • Commercial contracts and agreements

Having spent years working in-house for various organisations, Adam has first-hand experience of what businesses need and their legal priorities. Adam understands the particular commercial needs of businesses and is able to provide them with the information and advice that they require, in a manner which they are able to understand and implement quickly and cost effectively.

Adam grew up in Nottingham and currently lives in Mansfield with his wife and two children. Adam understands the Nottinghamshire area very well but also acts for a variety of businesses across the UK and the EU. Adam works aside a number of commercial clients acting effectively as their in-house legal function without the full-time costs of a solicitor.

Adam's appointment further strengths Chattertons Corporate and Commercial team and Adam will be growing and adding to the team over the coming months and years.

Adam says: "I am delighted to be joining Chattertons at a time when it continues to expand by merging with other firms and taking on some really great people. It’s a fabulous opportunity to build upon and expand the Corporate and Commercial team across all of the Chattertons offices and I look forward to the opportunity ahead."

Paul Bloomfield

Paul Bloomfield joined us in August 2020 as a Commercial Property Consultant, bringing decades of specialist expertise to benefit our clients.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1985, Paul is a highly experienced solicitor who specialises in matters including:

  • All forms of land acquisition and development
  • Property sales
  • Commercial leases
  • Construction contract (JCT) advice
  • All other forms of property support for commercial clients

Having managed a wide range of business and legal matters over the years, Paul is able to provide strategic, operational and client-focused advice across all areas of commercial property law.

During his career, Paul has spent 10 years working in industry and has managed a wide range of business and legal matters which enables him to provide strategic, operational and client focused advice with four guiding principles, trust, integrity, empathy and innovation

Julie Pope

Julie Pope

Julie Pope joined Chattertons as a Commercial Property Partner in November 2020. She specialises in the general commercial property and rural property, including for agricultural businesses.

Julie qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and has specialised in commercial property law ever since, with her areas of expertise covering all aspects of commercial property including:

  • Freehold and leasehold acquisitions and sales
  • Commercial developments
  • Complex landlord and tenant matters
  • Options
  • Overage provisions and security (acting for lenders and borrowers)

Julie says: “I strive to fully understand the clients' business and property needs and work closely with them. As a result, I have built up a strong, loyal client base to include owner occupiers, SME's, developers, property investors and lenders with whom I really enjoy working.”
