Qualifications: Grant qualified as a solicitor in 1995.

Having qualified as a solicitor in 1995 with a firm in Ipswich, Grant worked very nearly 21 years for a firm in Spalding (mostly as an equity partner) before joining Chattertons in September 2017.

Grant has extensive experience in dispute resolution, employment law, personal injury work , regulatory defence work and licensing (alcohol and gambling). Grant is also a member of our GDPR team.

With respect to dispute resolution Grant is a very successful negotiator as well as a formidable advocate when the needs arises. He covers a multitude of types of dispute from straight forward debt matters to complex contract and business disputes.

In employment law, Grant covers both contentious and non-contentious matters, with comprehensive experience of acting for both employers and employees. Grant is a member of The Employment Lawyers’ Association.

Grant is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (“APIL”), having covered high level catastrophic injury cases all the way through to low level road traffic accident/employers’ liability claims.

For a number of years Grant regularly appeared in local magistrates’ courts as a defence advocate and has honed his defence skills to regularly assist businesses and individuals in defending regulatory prosecutions in matters like building control, health and safety, environmental law , food safety and planning. So well respected has Grant become in these areas that he has undertaken a number of prosecutions for local authoritys.

Having advised a local authority for a number of years on alcohol licensing/regulated entertainment licensing, Grant is well placed now to help clients with licensing applications particularly in terms of contentious issues and challenges/reviews. Grant has a wealth of experience of dealing with gambling licence applications to both the Gambling Commission and to local authoritys.

Apart from working very hard for his clients, Grant is enthused by marketing and business development. He has experience of running a local networking group and regularly is asked to provide seminars on matters like employment law updates.

Out of the office Grant is an avid sports fan, particularly keen on Stoke City FC and the England Cricket and Rugby teams. Occasionally he has be known to hit the gym to keep fit with a bit running have once successfully completed a marathon!
