Private Client Solicitor (Senior Associate / Partner) - Newark, Nottinghamshire
We have an exciting opportunity for a confident, proactive and well‑organised individual to join our team at Associate or Partner level. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience across a broad range of private client matters, including the preparation of Wills (including those incorporating trusts for more complex family arrangements), inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, and the preparation and registration of EPAs and LPAs.
The role will also involve Court of Protection work and the administration of both taxable and non‑taxable estates, requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
In addition, we are seeking an experienced individual who is keen to play a key role in the growth and development of the Private Client practice. The successful candidate will be happy to help build and mentor a team, contribute to the strategic direction of the department, and take an active role in business development, including developing existing client relationships, networking, and generating new work. A following is welcome but not essential; a commercial mindset and genuine enthusiasm for growing the practice are more important.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high‑quality, ongoing service to existing Private Client clients, advising on Wills, probate, trusts, estate administration, tax planning, LPAs/EPAs and Court of Protection matters.
- Perform fee‑earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the firm’s quality, risk and compliance procedures, producing fee income in line with agreed targets and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Partners and fee earners to develop new business, build client and referrer relationships, and support the firm’s business development activities.
- Play an active role in the development and enhancement of the Private Client department, including contributing to strategy, service delivery and team growth.
- Support the supervision, mentoring and development of junior team members, assisting with workflow management and maintaining high professional standards.
- Maintain effective financial control, including billing, cash‑flow management and the collection of monies on account.
- Keep fully informed of changes in law and practice, maintaining and enhancing up‑to‑date legal and technical skills.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
- Qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive
- Experienced in all mainstream private client matters to include, Wills, Powers of Attorney and mental capacity issues, Tax Planning, Estate Administration and identifying the benefit and use of Trusts.
- High level of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Desirable Experience
- STEP Qualified or desire to qualify.
- Experience with one or more of the following:- Agricultural estates and/or High value net worth clients.
- Driving Licence and transport as some travel will be required to other offices subject to suitable insurance cover.
- Competent in using case management systems.
- Clear understanding of confidentially/Data Protection.
