GDPR a year on....

  • Posted

This time last year we were all frantically getting ready for GDPR making sure our policies and procedures were compliant and everything was in place ready for 25th May 2018. A year on has it all gone quiet?

Not at Chattertons! Data protection is not a one off – it is an ongoing process that requires our constant attention. It’s not just about ensuring the policies and procedures are in place but also ensuring that they are reviewed regularly and more importantly that they can be adhered to.

The ICO has published a report about what they have learnt over the last 12 months. They have received over 14,000 personal data breach reports and have seen a significant increase in individuals exercising their rights. The number of complaints received has also gone up demonstrating that data subjects know more about their data protection rights as a result of GDPR and how to report any issues.

The GDPR significantly increased the protection for data subjects and it is crucial that clients (data subjects) are clear about how their data is processed and how we will comply with the regulations.

Chattertons has recently been accredited with IASME Gold, which demonstrates that we have the policies and procedures in place to be compliant with GDPR. Being serious about data protection shows our clients that we are worth doing business with and that we can be trusted to keep their data safe.

This is a recent article detailing how we have been recognised for our efforts on data protection and security measures https://www.horncastlenews.co.uk/news/people/lincolnshire-solicitors-firm-recognised-for-appropriate-security-measures-1-8946783
