Chattertons support 100 years of women's suffrage

  • Posted

Chattertons solicitors are proud to announce that as part of the 100 years of women’s suffrage celebrations, we recently sponsored a debating competition for local schools, organised by the MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham,  Dr Caroline Johnson.   Girls from both primary and secondary schools in the constituency were invited to participate, and Liz Graham, head of Family Law at Chattertons, was one of the judges.

The prizewinners, from Rauceby Primary School and Branston Community College, enjoyed a trip to the Houses of Parliament, and a meeting with the PM herself – a role model for girls who want to aim high.   Everyone was delighted that Mrs May managed to spare some time for the prizewinners, in what is a particularly busy time for her.

All of the girls who took part showed the judges just how powerful are the voices of young women across the region, and we expect to see some of them taking up positions of leadership, and maybe even standing up in Parliament in the future.

Here is the picture of the prizewinners, their teacher, local MP Caroline Johnson and of course the Prime Minister Theresa May, with Liz Graham.
