Russian Language Day: Supporting Russian-Speaking Clients Through Family Law

Each year on 6 June, Russian Language Day celebrates the Russian language and its cultural significance around the world.

At Chattertons, we recognise the importance of clear communication, particularly when clients are dealing with sensitive and often life-changing family law matters. For many people, discussing complex legal issues in a second language can add an extra layer of stress during an already challenging time.

We are delighted to have Elena Metawea, Partner in our Family Department based in Horncastle, who is fluent in Russian and regularly advises Russian-speaking clients across the UK.

Elena joined Chattertons in November 2025, bringing more than a decade of legal experience and a strong reputation in family law. Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2017, she has developed particular expertise in complex, high-value cases involving businesses, farms and pensions.

Being able to communicate in a client's native language can make a significant difference. It helps ensure that clients fully understand their options, feel comfortable discussing personal circumstances, and can make informed decisions about their future.
