Is 5% pa achievable?
- AuthorHannah Rogers
Cash ISA and deposit rates are at an all-time low. Whilst depositors have the comfort of minimal risk, many accounts are not even paying 1%pa. There is nevertheless still a risk with deposits and that is an inflation risk. If the interest rate being paid is less than inflation the buying power of your money is falling in real terms.
We are often asked about alternatives. If you are willing to accept an element of risk, it is currently possible to achieve steady returns in the region of 5%pa in products that are designed to smooth out the highs and lows associated with other types of investment*.
